The beautiful village of Skoutari is located in the sunny-sided Mani, which is a unique and beautiful location. The wild beauty of Mani is perfectly combined with the green scenery. Skoutari is built amphitheatrically and ends up in the sea. It is said that is one out of eight cities that claim to be Omerus’ birth places. The Byzantines gave its name from the word “scutum”, which means shield.

There are a lot of saved Byzantine churches, as well as stone towers, which are a reminder of the victorious battles against the Turks. The most famous is the Kalkandis’ tower which is located in the center of the village.
